Privacy notice

AMSA collects only the personal information it needs to document swims and run the association, in line with South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). Our full privacy notice is being drafted.

In preparation

This page is being prepared for launch.

AMSA is newly established. Content appears here as it is approved, and drafts are always labelled as drafts.

What this section will hold

  • What we collect and why
  • How long we keep it
  • What we publish about swimmers and observers, and what we never publish
  • Your rights and how to contact our information officer
Draft, pending the full privacy notice

Observer accounts

If you create an observer account, AMSA stores what you enter: your name, email, country, experience, qualifications and declared conflicts of interest, your course progress and assessment results, your application and signed declaration, any swim assignments, and a record of each accreditation decision.

Only you and AMSA’s authorised administrators can see it. If you are approved and agree, your name, country and accreditation appear on the public observer register; your email appears there only if you separately agree. You can change these choices in your profile at any time.

AMSA uses this information only to assess, record and verify observer accreditation. To ask for a copy, a correction or deletion, email info@amsa.africa.
